Drug category
• Anti-histamine (H1 receptor) – Anti Cough - Anticholinergic - CNS depressant system
General tips for proper use of drugs:
• This medication is prescribed for your current condition. Therefore, do not use it in matches or do not recommend it to others.
• Drowsiness is very common, while taking this drug, But reduced in intensity with continued use therefore, while you are taking this medicine should avoid for driving and operating machinery that requiring vigilance.
• If you forget a dose of medication, take it as soon as you remember. But if it's almost time is to take the next turn, use prescribed dose and do not double it.
Before use this drug, consult with your doctor about following cases:
• If you are allergic to other antihistamines: Patients who are allergic to one of antihistamines, may have a sensitivity condemned another antihistamines.
• In lactation and pregnancy
• In the case of sensitivity to gelatin, protective material and colors
• If you use other anticholinergic drugs
• If you use products containing alcohol with drugs inhibit the central nervous system (CNS).
• Used with caution in elderly patients and should not be used in conjunction with other sedatives and soothing.
• Due to interfere in the results of skin tests, notify your doctor about using the drug before doing these tests. It is Recommended that, antihistamine be discontinued 72 hours before the tests.
Used with caution in the following cases:
• Pregnancy: This medication is belonging to Group B and its consumption during pregnancy is allowed under doctor’s prescription.
• During breastfeeding: the drug is excreted in breast milk, so breast-feeding is not recommended while taking this medication also the anticholinergic effects of antihistamines may inhibits the secretion of milk. Antihistamines may cause unusual excitement or baby irritability.
• Children: This drug is not recommended in children under 12 years.
• In the elderly: the old people are more sensitive to anticholinergic side effects (e.g., dry mouth, urinary retention and excessive excitability).
Other caution cases:
If you have asthma, ischemic heart disease, glaucoma, hyperthyroidism, kidney and liver failureو blockage of Duodenal pyloric, before taking the drug, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
Side Effects:
• Each drug, along the desired treatment effects may cause some unwanted side effects. Side effects are rare and are usually mild, too. Although all of these effects cannot be seen in a person, but if you see this effects, stop medication and consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
• Cardiac arrhythmia, tachycardia, palpitations
• Drowsiness, dry mouth, nose or throat, upset stomach, stomach pain, nausea
• Blurred vision, visual impairment
• Skin thickening occurs less.
Drug and Dosage:
Adults:
• As antihistamines to relieve symptoms of allergies, rhinitis, hives, itching, runny nose and dry cough relief: 25-50 mg every 4 to 6 hours
• As an anti-dyskinesia: for Parkinson's or Parkinson's unknown encephalitis on the first day 25 mg three times a day, if necessary dose gradually increased to 50 mg 4 times daily.
• As antiemetic and anti-vertigo Biography: 50-25 mg every 4 to 6 hours
• As an anti-nausea, anti-vomiting and dizziness in motion sickness (travel): at least 30 minutes and preferably 1 to 2 hours before to traveling start time to the amount of 25-50 mg and then should be taken before every meal and at bedtime (every 4 to 6 hours)
• As hypnotic and soothing: 50 mg, 20 to 30 minutes before bedtime
Note: The maximum amount for adults is 300 mg per day.
Children:
Note: it is recommended that in children under 12 years of age or in children weighing less than 17 kg, use from other forms of drug.
Poisoning:
• In the case of taking drug more than the prescribed dose or in the event of accidental use by children under 6 years of age, treatment must be stopped and the patient should be transferred to medical center immediately.
Maintenance:
• Keep drug at temperature below 25ﹾC and away from light and moisture.
• Keep away from reach of children.
• Do not use expired Drug.
